Question

3 years ago, I was using SQL Server 2008 with analysis services, together with Excel 2010 and data mining addin.
This allowed me to run SQL Server data mining algorithms on arbitrary Excel table without using cubes or tabular data inside SQL Server.
![Add Add](/uploads/1/2/6/4/126459681/345312559.jpg)
Now I'm fronting a PC with SQL Server 2014 (with analysis services) and Excel 2016, and I'm not able to find data mining addin for this version of Excel nor this version of SQL Server.
Does someone know how to make this work in newer versions of Office and SQL Server?

Hi Dejan, Game controller for mac best buy.
According to your description, you need SQL Server 2014 data mining add-in for Excel 2016, right?
Based on my research, Data Mining plugin for Excel 2016 has not been released. Current version is for Excel 2010 or Excel 2013 which you can see on the link below. The SQL Server Data Mining Add-Ins for Office is a free download. You must have one of the following versions of Office already installed to use these tools:
- Office 2010, 32-bit or 64-bit version
- Office 2013, 32-bit or 64-bit version
If you have any concern about this behavior, you can submit a feedback at http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback and hope it is resolved in the next release of service pack or product. Your feedback enables Microsoft to make software and services the best that they can be, Microsoft might consider to add this feature in the following release after official confirmation.

Hi, I was with the same problem and surfing the internet I found a solution and is that having already installed Office 2016 64-Bit run the installer Office 2013 and just select that Excel 2013 is installed, then install the SQL Server Data Minig Excel perfectly. Once you uninstall add Excel 2013 installed and ready all right, now I have Excel 2016 addin Data Mining.

jmphn,
Your reply is unreadable. I am guessing that English is not your first language. Can you get someone to help you with your response? Or can you add the link that you reference as the solution to this problem?
Thanks,
Justin

Justin,
English is not my first language either but I guess jmphn is trying to explain that the solution was to run installation of Office 2013 and install Excel 2013 (or complete package I guess that doesn't matter). Once Excel 2013 is on your machine the data mining add-in installer will allow you to complete installation. You can then remove Office 2013 copy from your machine and the add-in should be visible in 2016 version as well.
I haven't tested this as installing older versions of Office is not an option for me.

Dear Justin,
You HAVE to be told this; your rudeness to jmphn impresses nobody.
You need help with decency and self respect.
Thank you very much Stepan.

Dear Himma,
I'm sorry I offended you or anyone else for that matter, I wasn't trying to be rude. I was only looking for a reply like the one from Stepan that explained what jmphn was trying to say. Also, I found a another blog that explains it (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/Lync/en-US/d36b2c94-5f39-488b-a7eb-78120fc809ad/accessing-data-mining-addin-excel-2016-64bit?forum=sqldatamining):
1) Install Office 2013 trial (Excel only, mark everything else as don't install).
2) Install SQL 2012 SP3 DM Addin https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=49997
3) Open Excel 2016 and configure plugin (It pops up and ask you to configure automatically)
4) Uninstall Office 2013 trial
5) Repair Office 2016
Please accept my apology and try to understand that I wasn't trying to impress anyone.
Thank you for telling me I need help with decency and self respect, it makes me feel really good inside.
